Hey there, anglers! Ready for some world-class inshore action in Puerto Rico? Our 6 to 8-hour charter takes you straight to the honey holes of Torrecilla and San Jose Lagoons. These spots are absolute goldmines for Tarpon and Snook fishing. Picture yourself weaving through winding channels, surrounded by lush mangroves, as you cast for some of the most sought-after gamefish in the Caribbean.
This isn't your average day on the water. We're talking about a full-on fishing adventure that can be tailored to your style. Depending on when you visit and what you're after, we might split the day into two 4-hour sessions. This way, we hit the prime fishing windows and keep you on the fish all day long. Whether you're a seasoned pro or it's your first time holding a rod, our expert guides have got your back. We'll put you on the fish and show you the ropes of landing these hard-fighting species in their backyard.
Get ready to work those casting arms! In these lagoons, we're mainly sight-fishing and working structure. You'll be throwing lures at mangrove edges, sunken logs, and any other fishy-looking spots. We use light tackle to make the most of every bite - trust me, when a big Snook slams your lure right next to the boat, you'll be glad you've got that sensitive setup. For Tarpon, be prepared for some acrobatics. These silver kings love to put on a show, and you'll need quick reflexes to keep them on the line. Don't worry if you're new to this; we'll coach you through every cast and hookset.
Anglers have been crushing it lately in these lagoons. Last week, we had a client land a 40-inch Snook that put up a fight for the ages. Another group managed to boat three Tarpon over 80 pounds in a single morning. The bite's been hot, and we're seeing more consistent action than we have in years. It's not uncommon for folks to hook into double-digit numbers of fish on a good day. Just remember, it's not all about the numbers - that one big fish can make your whole trip!
Snook: These ambush predators are the kings of structure. In Puerto Rico, they grow big and mean, often topping 20 pounds. Snook are notorious for their initial burst of speed when hooked, often making a beeline for the nearest tangle of mangrove roots. They're crafty fighters that'll test your skills and your gear. The best part? They're delicious if you decide to keep one for dinner (within regulations, of course).
Tarpon: Known as the "Silver King," Tarpon are the ultimate gamefish for many anglers. In these lagoons, we see them ranging from 20 to well over 100 pounds. They're famous for their spectacular leaps and gill-rattling head shakes. Hooking a Tarpon is exciting, but landing one is a true accomplishment. These prehistoric fish have rock-hard mouths, so setting the hook just right is crucial. The fall months tend to be prime time for big Tarpon, but we see them year-round in varying sizes.
There's something special about fishing these Puerto Rican lagoons that keeps folks coming back year after year. Maybe it's the heart-stopping moment when a massive Tarpon rolls on your bait. Or perhaps it's the satisfaction of perfectly placing a cast under a low-hanging mangrove and feeling that telltale 'thunk' of a Snook inhaling your lure. Whatever it is, this fishery has a way of getting under your skin. The scenery alone is worth the trip - crystal clear waters, abundant wildlife, and the occasional manatee sighting to boot. Plus, you're fishing in the heart of Puerto Rico, so the local vibes and post-fishing eats are top-notch.
Alright, let's get down to brass tacks. This 6 to 8-hour trip is your ticket to some of the best inshore fishing Puerto Rico has to offer. We provide all the gear, the know-how, and the hot spots. All you need to bring is your game face and maybe a snack or two. Remember, we're limited to just one angler per trip, so you're getting the full, undivided attention of your guide. That means more casts, more hookups, and more fish in the boat.
Don't let this chance slip away. The fish are biting, the weather's perfect, and we've got a spot with your name on it. Grab your phone, give us a call, and let's get you hooked up with some Puerto Rican giants. Trust me, once you feel that first Tarpon take to the air or that bulldogging Snook testing your drag, you'll be planning your next trip before we even hit the dock. So what are you waiting for? Let's go fishing!
Snook are one of our most popular gamefish here in Puerto Rico. They usually run 1-2 feet long but can reach up to 4 feet. You'll find them around mangroves, lagoons, and estuaries - they like structure and cover. Spring through fall is prime snook season when the water warms up. Anglers love targeting snook for their aggressive strikes and acrobatic fights. They'll leap clear out of the water and make blistering runs. Snook are also excellent eating if you decide to keep one. When fishing for snook, I always tell folks to work those mangrove edges with a soft plastic swimbait. Let it sink, then give it some twitches. The snook can't resist!
Tarpon are the silver kings of our lagoons. These prehistoric-looking fish can reach 6-8 feet long and over 200 pounds. You'll find them cruising the shallows and channels of places like Torrecilla Lagoon. Spring and summer are best, especially around the full and new moons. Anglers come from all over to battle tarpon - they put on an incredible aeriel show when hooked, leaping and thrashing. It's pure excitement. Just remember, tarpon have bony mouths, so a firm hookset is key. I like using live mullet on a circle hook - let the tarpon run with it before reeling. Set the hook when the line comes tight and hang on for the ride of your life!
